P.C. Run Amok

il_fullxfull.365434374_tscnI was recently informed of a concept that takes political correctness to a new extreme. When I first heard of the idea it was so ludicrous that I tended to discount it as just another urban myth. However, in all fairness to the person reporting it to me, I did my research and was astounded to discover that the report was true, and even more far-reaching than was originally reported to me. The issue I am referring to is a law enacted this past summer in California providing for, among other things, unisex bathrooms in schools. Not only does this law provide for unisex bathrooms, but unisex locker rooms, and the right for an individual to decide which sex to identify with and use the facilities based on what they claim their inner gender to be.

The liberals among us would describe this as a good thing and a step forward in creating equality among the sexes. I, for one, feel that anyone person should be allowed to do anything they wish, providing that it does not infringe upon the rights of others. Therein lies the crux of the problem. If a teen age boy feels he was cheated at birth and is a female living in a male’s body, this law would allow this individual to choose to utilize restrooms, locker rooms, showers, etc., with members of the opposite sex, at least those who display physical attributes of the opposite sex. The problem is, when this very small minority of individuals are expressing their inner selves, they are impacting the rights of all the others who use the facility and expect a degree of privacy while in their most vulnerable state. Does not an individual have the right to expect this privacy?. This California law takes away the ability to enjoy any degree of privacy. I remember high school. Showering with one’s peer group was uncomfortable enough. It would be untenable to have to endure the prying eyes of a member of the opposite sex, regardless of what they consider their inner self to be.

Personally, I think this is going to afford an opportunity for all the horny teenage boys to invade the locker rooms and showers while they are being used by the females. Who is to stop them? How will anyone prove they are not inwardly female. And they opposite stands to be true as well. Let equality stand. I am sure there will be a number of hormone laden young females avail themselves of the opportunity to pop on in and get a peek. The bottom line is this, the majority of the population is gender identified by they physical attributes they were born with. And unless, and until, those physical attributes are altered or removed, those who look male should change, dress, pee, and shower only with males. Those who look female should change, dress, pee, and shower only with females. It just should not be any other way.

This is political correctness run amok. Granted it is only in California at this point, but how long before the liberals else where jump on the band wagon? The fact that the ACLU supports this is enough to tell me it is a bad thing. The P.C. pendulum has swung way to far to the left. It is time to bring it back to center.

Those are my thoughts, what are yours?

I agree with you. Though I tend to lean in a “liberal” direction, it seems pretty ridiculous to me.

    I wouldn’t blame liberals. I’d blame idiots.

Actually, at this point it wouldn’t bother me one bit if California did sink into the ocean. Big push is on to divide it into 6 states. If that goes through, maybe some of their radical ideas ideas will be curbed.
