Shameless Self Promotion!

facebook-profile-pic-160x160px-v1Today I have no real topic. I find that on occasion I am blocked and not feeling passionate about any thing in particular. On those days, the blog articles do not flow freely. This is one of those days. I woke up early this morning and realized that I had not become inspired to pontificate on any subject. Usually when this happens I can turn to City Hall politics and within a short period of time I can find a topic. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the City Hall Mob has been doing a reasonable job of late. It was, without a doubt, the most uninspiring budget cycle in years. A budget was passed with very little politicizing on the part of the participants. No layoffs were threatened, no harsh service cuts were promised, and the participants acted in a civil and civilized manner. The actual budget vote was 8 in favor of and 1 against. There is always one. Right Yvette?

Since I am mired in the muck of non-inspiration, I decided I would take this opportunity to do some shameless self promotion of the Townehouse Phoenix Blog. Did you know that The Townehouse Phoenix Blog (formerly known as Unorganized Thoughts) was originally published on January 1st, 2010. The actual number of blog articles written is unknown. Due to a corrupted data base, between 30-40 blog articles were lost forever. (Note to self: back up the database). Many articles were recovered via various means and are online today. Currently, there are 130 articles on-line waiting for you to read. Since the crash, the blog has been viewed 6,726 time and there have been 282 comments left by readers of the blog. The blog has been accessed from various points around the globe, including England, Hungary, and Japan. The most read article by far, was the article about the Cincinnati Police Department ‘s uniform. This article caused quite a debate in a Facebook group. I hope everybody has forgiven everybody by now. This article still gets picked up by search engines and is viewed several times per week. The 282 reader comments have ranged from “Great post” to “Gobble-DE-goop” and many things in between. The typical length of an article is between 500 to 700 words.

By far, the two biggest disappointments I have experienced since starting this venture is the lack of individuals willing to subscribe to the blog, and the small number of people who have clicked the like button the blog’s associated Facebook page. I am not sure why the subscription process has not been more successful. Perhaps it is a suspicion on the part of others that by providing their email address they will be added to some spam database somewhere. Although I can assure you that this is not the case, fear of spam is a valid concern. I too hate spam email. The benefit of subscription is that the subscriber will receive an email every time a new article is posted. As a result, the article can be accessed from any device that has access to email and the internet. And, if you subscribe, you can unsubscribe at any time. You have my personal guarantee that opting out actually works. There is only one true benefit to clicking the like button for Facebook. It makes me feel good. Who doesn’t want to help an old man feel good? You can accomplish both the subscription process and the Facebook like process on the right hand column of this very page. One other benefit is that reading the blog is now and shall always be free. One can find no cheaper entertainment than free entertainment. That is providing, of course, that you agree that reading the blog is entertaining. Hopefully it is for Somme.

That is it in a nutshell. Shameless self promotion at no cost to you. You may notice at the bottom of the blog article are various opportunities to help me promote the blog. You can click to share it via various social media sites or to email it to a friend (or enemy), By all means, please take advantage of the comment box below. You can be anonymous or take full credit for your comment. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for reading the blog.

Those are my thoughts, what are yours?
