I originally started using Townehouse as a \u201cbrand\u201d back in the late 80\u2032s when I operated a public bulletin board system (BBS) known as the\u00a0Townehouse\u00a0BBS. \u00a0The BBS originally started as a small offering on a software known as QuickBBS and later migrated to\u00a0software\u00a0called Spitfire. \u00a0Townehouse BBS grew and soon was offering thousands of files for download, both online and near line, as well as BBS door games, and\u00a0QWK mail nodes, both FidoNet<\/a> and HugNet. \u00a0At its peak, he BBS was averaging around 75 calls per day. \u00a0The BBS was accessible via dial up only.<\/p>\n

In the mid 90\u2032s, as the internet\u00a0grew\u00a0in popularity, use of BBS for mail transfer, and gaming fell of the grid. \u00a0The internet was easier to use and \u00a0offered more. \u00a0Townehouse made a brief comeback in\u00a02005 being operated as a web based BBS but it seemed the only\u00a0appeal\u00a0was for cretins to attempt to hack the system.<\/p>\n

Currently Townehouse.net only hosts the\u00a0Townehouse Blog. \u00a0I am looking forward to adding additional features in the future so watch this space. \u00a0What can I say, I have been \u201cgeeking\u201d for a long time now.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
