readers of this blog in the past have wondered what ever happened to this blogger. Probably even more haven’t wondered. Well, the good news and the bad news is the same; I am alive and still kicking. As to why I have not written for a while, I am not exactly sure. All I can say is I seem to have lacked inspiration. Okay, that is not exactly true. Often, I was inspired but when I sat at the keyboard the transfer of the inspiration from the brain to the fingertips seemed to be lacking. Additionally I got involved in several other websites and the time I was spending on them consumed my focus and at the end of each morning, once I completed the maintenance on those sites I was tired of correcting my typos and tired of squinting at the monitor. But this day I feel newly energized and determined to begin actively blogging anew.

Yesterday was Thanksgiving Day. In the past I have written about this day on, or before, the holiday but since I had not yet committed to a resurgence of the Townehouse Blog I did not. Instead I spent the morning creating a reasonable imitation of the turkey dressing I had all the years of my childhood and beyond. In my opinion it was almost as good as what my father used to make, and since there was none left after the meal, I will have to deem it a success. The reason I say it was almost as good is because the one missing ingredient was the flavor rendered when the dressing is cooked inside the turkey. Apparently, a medical breakthrough as determined it is no longer safe to prepare dressing in this fashion and we are all doomed to an agonizing death if we do. Notice we used to call it stuffing, but now it is known as dressing. The miracle is that I am still alive to make the dressing and report on same considering all the years I consumed the deadly stuffing prepared inside the turkey. Next year I may throw all caution to the wind and have it cooked inside the turkey and see if I am here to report on it the next day. Wish me luck!

As I sit here considering the advisability of consuming turkey dressing dangerously prepared, I can’t help but wonder how I and my fellow baby boomers managed to survive into adult hood. We did after all, live in very dangerous times. Not only was the threat of nuclear annihilation constantly looming, we also sat on the open rear door of the family station wagon with our legs dangling off, mere inches from the roadway below. And if that was not dangerous enough, consideration must be given to the heroic acts of the less fortunate once who had to ride in the interior of the automobile without a seat belt, for there were none. There was also further danger introduced as the operator of said automobile frequently had to take their hands from the 10-2 hands on wheel position as they stuck their left arm out the left side window to signal their intention to turn right, turn left, and slow down. I could cite many other examples of having survived the fifties but either you also survived them and find this boring or you were born in safer times and find this unbelievable.

Today is the first Christmas cookie baking day. My house has been invaded by the cookie crew which consists of two daughters-in-law and two granddaughters. Additionally, my wife looms large overseeing the work and directing the conversation. They have only just begun so at this point the air is rife with estrogen. Hopefully this soon will be replaced with the smell of baking cookies, buckeyes,, coconut macaroons and many others that makes one fat just looking at them, never mind consuming them. No doubt those tremendous odors will soon totally distract me and my ability to think of anything else will cease, so I will stop writing at this point. Hopefully this is the first of many articles to come. I just need the inspiration, and encouragement. Send me your ideas.

Those are my thoughts, what are yours?

Feel free to comment, like, share, agree or disagree with this
