{"id":14307,"date":"2024-09-27T07:00:21","date_gmt":"2024-09-27T11:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/townehouse.net\/?p=14307"},"modified":"2024-09-25T14:26:44","modified_gmt":"2024-09-25T18:26:44","slug":"60-years-later-the-epilogue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/townehouse.net\/?p=14307","title":{"rendered":"**60 Years Later** The Epilogue"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-attachment-id=\"14308\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/townehouse.net\/?attachment_id=14308\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/townehouse.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/TH-09-27.jpg?fit=200%2C200&amp;ssl=1\" data-orig-size=\"200,200\" data-comments-opened=\"1\" data-image-meta=\"{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;1&quot;}\" data-image-title=\"TH 09-27\" data-image-description=\"\" data-image-caption=\"\" data-large-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/townehouse.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/TH-09-27.jpg?fit=200%2C200&amp;ssl=1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-14308 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/townehouse.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/TH-09-27.jpg?resize=200%2C200&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/townehouse.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/TH-09-27.jpg?w=200&amp;ssl=1 200w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/townehouse.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/TH-09-27.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>Last month I wrote of the upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/townehouse.net\/60-years-later\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">60<sup>th<\/sup> class reunion<\/a> for the McNicholas high School Class of \u201964.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The date has come and gone; it is in the history books.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Nothing left to do now but remember and hope.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Remember the friends we reacquired after all these years and hope we are all still here for the 65<sup>th<\/sup> class reunion, yet to be organized or even decided if such an event will occur.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I truly hope it will and hopefully I will be here to attend.<\/p>\r\n<p>To me it was quite interesting to see the variations in the perceived ages of the attendees.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>As we are all pretty much of the same age, it seemed to me that some appeared quite young and vibrant looking nowhere near their chronological age and others, quite frankly, appeared to be circling the drain.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I will not identify any from either category and I will leave it to the determination of others to which category I belong.<\/p>\r\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>On a sad note, remembrances were had of those we have lost to death since we left high school.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Although the number still with us far exceeds those who are not, the list continues to get longer with each passing year.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I think it might be sad when I am looking at the list in years to come and realize that I am the last one left, or at least that is my plan.<\/p>\r\n<p>I discovered a curious phenomenon as I milled about engaging in conversation with many.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>For it seemed as I approached, I really did not know with whom I was about to engage and but for their name tags I would have never guessed their identity.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>But once engaged in conversation I noticed the person I used to know slowly emerge and then it was as if the years slipped away, and we were the same as we were back then.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p>I also noticed that with some I could certainly tell that they truly had no idea who I was.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I do not resent them for that because there were some, I also had no idea who they were.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>That did not stop us from engaging in conversation with one another as we asked \u201chow are you?
