You know the one I am talking about, the neighbor who is so busy minding your business they have no time to mind their own. And if you don’t have enough to worry about with that neighbor, suddenly you have to contend with that other neighbor. Worst of all, that neighbor and that other neighbor are friends and they seem to be conspiring to make your life miserable.

Now I am a friendly kind of guy. I believe in live and let live, or better yet, to live and leave alone.I like to sit back and enjoy life. I particularly enjoy that time of the year when the temperature is just right, the humidity is low, and there is a cool breeze blowing. I like to sit in the yard, listen to the birds sing and watch the grass grow. And always it seems, this is the time that neighbor picks to mow his yard. And for some reason, the part of his yard that abuts ours seems to get the most attention. How many times can one strip of grass need to be mowed? It’s not like it has grown that much since the last time it was cut 30 seconds ago. He then has to come back and cut it on the diagonal. Give me a break. All the while he is glaring at me as he goes by, as if it is my fault my crabgrass is not capable of honoring properly lines. Do I give him grief when his weed killer kills my crabgrass? Never! I think he is jealous, my crabgrass is thriving in this drought.

What business is it of his that my old car is sitting in the side yard between our houses? I plan on restoring it one day and selling it for a lot of money. It is not that bad-looking. A little bondo, a little paint, bolt that bumper on and inflate the ties,it will look almost as good as new. In the meantime, it provides late afternoon shade for my lawn chair and you would be amazed at how much stuff you can store in an old car. It is not enough he as to worry about that car, he seems to be greatly offended by the recycle commode I am using as a planter. Go green and keep the porcelain out of the landfills.

Why is it that his stupid trees can drop branches in my yard and he has no concern, but if my trees inadvertently deposit a small twig in his yard, he gets all huffy and puffy and throws the twig(s) back across the property line. He should keep his trees trimmed. And the leaves in the fall, oy my gosh, that is a whole another blog topic. Suffice it to say, we have different opinions on how to and how often to rake leaves. I feel leaves are natures fertilizer and should be left alone. Typically they will be cone by the fifth or sixth mowing of the season and in the meantime the mushrooms thrive on the nourishment they provide.

But I say, live and let live. Forgive and forget. Yeah, right!!

Those are my thoughts, what are your?

It seems as if no matter where you live, or who you are, you will always end up with “that neighbor”.
