Inauguration Day – 2017

0:00

Today Mr. Donald Trump transits from being President Elect to President.  Inauguration Day is always a historical event in this country, and today is no different.  Unfortunately there are too many people who are simply sore losers.  There are too many people who are incapable of putting partisanship aside and accepting the fact that Donald Trump is the President of the United States.  He is President because he was duly elected to that office in a tried and true election process that has now worked well for several centuries.

Sadly there are many who are unwilling to accept the outcome of the election.  There are too many people unwilling to put their pettiness aside and agree to allow this country to move forward.  I find the boycotting of the inauguration by a number of Democrats not only despicable, but childish.  The elected officials are not representing the people but declaring war on the same man the people have determined to be their elected leader.  Fortunately for them, this is America and this type of immature behavior is protected by the 1st Amendment.  Time will tell if their constituents agree with this “protest”.  If they truly believe this action is in the best interest of the country and in the best interest of those who voted for them then I support their decision to protest.  Let me be clear, however, that supporting there right to do so does not mean I agree with what they have chosen to do.

It is time for Americans to unite behind their new President.  Every election has a winner and a loser.  At that point the process is over and the people need to accept the fact that the winner is the winner.  They must accept the fact and realize that the process is designed to impose a limit.  If the winner of an election fails there is a high probability he/she will not be reelected to a second term.  That is how it suppose to work, and how it will work.  To take a stand and refuse to accept the outcome of the election will gain nothing.  All the predictions of gloom and doom are merely that, predictions, nothing more.  No one person knows what kind of President Donald Trump will be.  We only know that he is the President. For the rest we will just have e to wait and see.

For the sake of this entire country and all of its citizens, I truly hope Donald Trump proves the be the best president, the best leader, the best Commander-In-Chief we have ever had.  But that is only my hope.  I do not know if this will or will not occur, and neither does anyone else.  What I do know is that he will have a better chance to do this if the people of this nation unite behind him.  He is the elected one, nothing is going to change that.  All the negative sentiments will accomplish nothing .  Let us all stand behind him, let us all help him meet his goals.  It is time to put pettiness aside.  Remember the words from The Liberty Song, written in 1768,  for they are still true today, “Then join hand in hand, brave Americans all! By uniting we stand, by dividing we fall!”

Those are my thoughts, what are yours?

  1. Our countries success has become its pitfall. Too many rights without balance brings about, imbalance. It has brought far too many selfish, self serving people and organizations. It has brought about a people who are intolerant and impatient. It has brought about a nation that is more divided now than any other time, in my lifetime ( 65years ). In my opinion, former President Obama has done very little to assist our country to be a ” United ” Nation. If by taking from one to give to another is a style of leadership to Unite, we are just fooling ourselves as to its genuine purpose. Many people did not like Obama being elected, did not feel he had any qualifications. In fact, the majority of America had never heard of Obama before he ran for President. Point being, much to their dismay, his being elected did not bring Riots and Destruction. It is also my opinion, Obama and Hillary Clinton have done NOTHING to attempt to circumvent these protests in our country. I have not heard anything where they have reached out and said to these people, STOP ! Shame on them for not being more involved. As I listen to the news and watch a few talk shows, the disrespect and unpatriotic behaviors of the host’s makes me ashamed of where our country has gone as a result of the ” Rights ” afforded us. Should there not be certain responsibilities to go along with these ” Rights ” ?

  2. I agree with everything you said but I still want the freedom to whine occasionally 🤐
